What kind of Notarization do you need?
While acknowledgements and jurats are two of the most common types of notarizations, they are not the only ones! Be sure you know what your document is and that you understand the document itself. Please also make sure you're aware whether or not you need to have witnesses present in order to complete the notarization. Family members cannot always serve as witnesses for you, depending on the document(s) you're needing notarized.
Bring your ID!
I will have to verify your identity. Please be sure that you bring your driver's license, state ID, or other government issued ID. Any form of identification provided will need to be current. Without proper, unexpired identification, your notarization cannot be completed! This also applies to additional named signers of a document and witnesses. If you do not have an ID, a credible witness may be used to properly identify you. A credible witness is someone you know that can personally vouch for you and confirm that you are who you say you are; The credible witness must have a valid government issued ID.
The Signing
Once your appointment begins, I will verify your ID and ask you a few simple questions. I will complete an entry in my notary journal with some details of your appointment; You will need to add some personal information in the journal and will need to sign in the journal as well. Once I witness you sign your document, or take your oath, I will notarize the document and you will be on your way! General notarization appointments can be completed in as little as 15 minutes.
Where I Can't Assist
I am not able to give you any direction as to what kind of notarization is required or explanation as to what your document is or confirm the contents of the document. I also cannot prepare or provide documents to you. I am not an attorney licensed to practice law in Texas and may not give legal advice or accept fees for legal advice.
